Great Week

This week has been so much fun :) So transfers were on Wednesday and I got my new trainee :) On Wednesday morning we went to the church and had a meeting for all the new trainers with president and his assistants. Then we went into the RS room with all the new missionaries and president gave another training then called up each new missionary and introduced them to their trainer! My new comp is Sister Johnson :) She is from Seattle Washington! and guess what... she is 25! haha but she doesn't look like it or act like it! Everyone thinks she is 19 its funny :) She is really sweet! I love her already! We have had a really busy week.. We taught 19 lessons this week and we have 2 investigators with a baptism date :) I took her tracting on her 2nd day here and she was so excited haha and one of the first doors we knocked on a man answered and said "are you Mormons or Jehovas whitnesses? and she said Mormons! and he was like "well im a Christian and your not... so ya... you guys have a different Jesus than I have.." she had no idea what to say to that hahah it was super funny! Something really cool happened last night.. We were going to contact a Less active that we have never met and I have been trying to meet him for the last 3 months and he is never home. Well we stopped by last night and he was home! he invited us in and we got to know him a little better. He is from Hawaii but his family lives in Utah. He is 34 and has been LA for about 10 years. He said "how did you guys find me? Did my mom call you and tell you to come visit me?" we told him his records were in our ward. He said I was actually thinking about coming to church today but I didn't know what time it was at. He said that he knows the reason we found him was because his mom and family have been praying really hard for him to come back to church! Im so glad we went there!! I know that this is the lords work and we just need to follow the Spirit to know what he would have us do. I love being an instrument in the Lords hands :) I love being a missionary!! :) I hope you all have a great week! Love Sister Leifson :

Hello

This week has been really busy! We were able to see a lot of people and also meet a lot of new people! We did a lot of tracting this week and we found some awesome potential people to start teaching :) So transfers are on Wednesday and I am going to be training a brand new missionary from the MTC :) :) im so excited!! Sister Clove had her departing interview on Saturday at the mission office. The Saturday before transfers they do a conference call with all the leadership of the mission plus the people who will be training and so we were at the mission office so President Griffin just let us sit in his office and be there for the call. It was just him and his assistants and us :) it was cool! Then he showed me who the new sisters were that were coming and asked me to pick the one I wanted haha im excited for her to be here! Its going to be really different for me to be with a companion who is younger than me in the mission, because I have always had companions that are older in the mission. I have had 3 companions go home while they were with me. So having sister clove be done and then getting someone brand new will be so different but im excited!! :) So most likely I will be staying in West Hills area until January which im really happy about :) This week we did a musical fireside with the Knox 1st ward and it went really good. Some people from Pellissippi ward came and I got to see them so that was fun :) Our investigators are doing good! Hopefully Lisa will be ready for Baptism in November! Rachel our ex communicated member finally came to church yesterday and she stayed the whole 3 hours :) I was so happy to see her there!! SO funny story for the week... My toilet in my bathroom broke and flooded my bathroom!!!... twice!!! the maintenance guy came and fixed it once and then last night it flooded again and it was like 10 30 and we had to call some members that live in the apartment under us and they came and helped us hahha it was so bad! so hopefully it will get fixed today! I am having so much fun out here :) I love my mission and all the people I have been able to meet :) I hope you all have a good week :) Love Sister Leifson :

Hello I love being a Missionary:)

This week has been really good! So there is a lady that we are teaching her name is Lisa. She was in our area book as someone who had been taught like a year ago. Her record wasn't kept up very good and we didn't know much about her, Well we decided to go contact her and come to find out, she was baptized last year but never came to get confirmed! We had no idea! She is such a sweet lady. We have started re teaching her the lessons and we gave her the date of November 8 to be baptized again :) Pray for her! We are still teaching Eric Miller. We didn't know how interested he was so we kinda took a break from seeing him last week, And then he showed up at church!! we were so surprised! But he really liked it a lot :) He has a long way to go to make it to baptism but we are trying our best! We have been doing a lot of finding lately and we have been able to find a lot of new people to teach! This week a member took us to dinner and she took us down to the UT (University of Tennessee) campus and showed us lots of cool things there! Then she took us to a really fancy and expensive BBQ place that's on the River. It was so much fun :) I am loving my mission so much and I am learning more than I ever thought I would! I cant wait for all of you to come visit Tennessee :) I hope you all have a great week! :) Love Sister Leifson :

Another great Week..

This week has been really great! Last week was a little bit rough... we didn't see much success, but this week was much better! We had our zone meeting this week and we got to watch a sneak preview of the movie, Meet the Mormons! it was so good! You all need to take a friend (who is not a member) to go see it! It is awesome :) We were able to find 4 new investigators this week! So a few weeks ago we met a man named Dwight. He is really interested in the church because he isn't happy with his church and he is looking for somewhere new to go. We got to see him this week and teach him the restoration! He really liked it and was super interested. It was funny because this week me and sister clove got to teach our first lesson together to an investigator and so we hadn't really practiced and we didn't really know each others teaching styles but we taught and it went so good and after he just talked about how we were such good teachers together! haha he is so awesome! Also this week.. I had the feeling to go visit the Mays family on Saturday. We don't usually get in to see them but we decided to try anyway. The mom is a member but her husband and 2 sons are not members. The sons are 25 and 30. We met them a few weeks ago and they wanted us to start teaching them. When we went on Saturday Sister Mays was outside and when we walked up she said that her son died on Thursday of a drug overdose.. it was so sad! we were able to go in and talk to her and her husband. That was really sad! When we left we decided to knock some doors in her neighborhood so we did and on the 3rd house a man opened the door about 6 inches and said no im not interested! We tried to talk to him a little bit but he acted like he didn't have time. Well he had a sign on his door that said "a golfer and his best score live here" so I said "You like to golf?" and he opened the door a few more inches and said yes, do you? and I said yes I love golfing! and he swung the door right open and said well then come in I have something you would like to see... And he took me to the bathroom and it was all decorated in golf stuff hahah then he proceeded to give me some tips on golfing and where the best places are to golf in Tennessee. We got talking a little bit more and I mentioned that we were from Utah and he said "UTAH?" Then I have something else you would like to see hahahah and he showed us all of his skiing and snowboarding stuff and told us that he has always wanted to go to Utah because of the snow. We sat down with him and he let us teach him. He is a really awesome guy and he is so funny! I am so glad that he had that sign on his door because I know that If I wouldn't have said that we would have never gotten in to teach him. when we left I asked him why he let us in and he said that he could tell there was something different about us, and he wanted to know what it was. Im so glad we met him! We got to go to watch the general womens broadcast and it was so good! im so excited for general conference!! :) Im so grateful for this opportunity I have to be serving the Lord. I love my mission so much! Serving in the South is really hard and not what I was used to in the Philippines but i have learned so much being out here. I hope you all have a great week! Love Sister Leifson :)
